NEOPHOTONICS ANNOUNCES ACQUISITIONS AND FINANCING

Shareholders of Harris & Harris Group, Inc., may be interested to note that NeoPhotonics Corporation announced today the acquisition of LightConnect, Inc., and OpTun, Inc. LightConnect is a manufacturer of micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) based components and modules for the fiber optic communications industry. OpTun is a developer of planar lightwave circuit (PLC) based reconfigurable optical add drop multiplexers (ROADMs). In conjunction with these acquisitions, NeoPhotonics announced completion of an equity financing of more than $50 million, in which Harris & Harris Group participated.
