HARRIS & HARRIS GROUP'S CEO NAMED 2003 SMALL TIMES MAGAZINE BEST OF SMALL TECH BUSINES LEADER AWARD FINALIST

Harris & Harris Group's Chairman and CEO, Charles E. Harris, was recognized as a 2003 Small Times Magazine Best of Small Tech Business Leader Award Finalist.

The 2003 Small Times Magazine Best of Small Tech Awards recognize the best people, products and companies in nanotechnology, MEMS and microsystems.

"The 2003 Small Times Magazine Best of Small Tech Award winners and finalists are already impacting lives," said Steve Crosby, President and Publisher of Small Times Media. "Small tech is passing the research and development stage; now it's being incorporated in real products."

Mel P. Melsheimer, Harris & Harris Group's President, said: "Because we at Harris & Harris Group were among the earliest venture capital investors in small tech, having made our first investment in a nanotechnology company in 1994, and we now makes new investments only in small tech, with emphasis on nanotechnology, recognition from Small Times Magazine means a lot to us. We view this award for Charlie as recognition for our company as a whole. We are as proud to receive this award for 2003 as we were last year to receive a 2002 Small Times Magazine Best of Small Tech Company Finalist Award."

The recipients of the Small Times Magazine Best of Small Tech Awards, along with the finalists, were selected by nominations and applications submitted by companies and individuals. Small Times Media news staff and an industry panel of experts reviewed the applicants and selected one winner and four finalists in six categories, plus lifetime achievement and other. The panel considered accomplishments between October 1, 2002 and September 1, 2003. A complete list of winners and finalists can be found in the November/December issue of Small Timesā magazine and online at www.smalltimes.com.
